Could you give us a quick rundown of the project?
Your Name + Role – Kevin Wu. Founder and CEO of GRAY® and GRAYCRAFT
Project Name – GRAYCRAFT Mechs
Project Summary – As the third act of the GRAYCRAFT universe, the GRAYCRAFT Mechs presents a collection of 3D full-bodies Mech avatars for Captains to use in the metaverse. The collection will consist of 6 Mechs (GC 3,4,5,6,7,8) with 4 thematic variants (Space, Sport, Military, Cyber Punk), creating 24 different combinations. In doing so, we will be the most unique Mech project in the metaverse, opening up exciting possibilities in gaming, video and physical merchandise.
Where can you buy – GRAYCRAFT Mechs will be a free mint for existing GRAYCRAFT NFT holders (All GC-1s can claim 5 Mechs, and all GC-2s can claim 1 Mech). There will be a public mint through an allow list to complete the collection and welcome more Captains into the GC universe.

What originally brought you into the NFT space?
The GRAY brand has been active since 2015, developing luxury tech accessories with a focus on forward looking design and the materials of the future. Our first foray into crypto came in 2019, where we partnered with Trezor to create the first luxury crypto hardware wallet. (https://gray.inc/collections/corazon-wallet).
We have wanted to move closer and closer into the world of Crypto, and the NFT revolution of late 2020/ early 2021 provided us with the opportunity to bring our experience in creating physical products and experiences into the metaverse.

What month and year did you get involved in NFTs?
I first heard about NFTs in 2021, and bought my first NFT, a Cryptopunk in early 2021. That began the start of a transformative journey into the world of NFTs, and I have been passionate about the space ever since, both as a collector and a creator with GRAYCRAFT.

How did you come up with the idea for your NFT project?
We were inspired by this guiding statement: The limits of our current physical existence are clearly not enough to meet mankind’s greatest ambitions.
GRAYCRAFT therefore reflects our commitment to a metaversal future, allowing us to realize our grandest science fiction imaginations without the constraints of our current capabilities. Building the GRAYCRAFT branded universe, we envision a galaxy of characters, vehicles and environments that cut across both digital and physical worlds.

What makes your NFT project unique?
Our ambition is to create the most unique Mech project. The collection will consist of 6 Mechs (GC 3,4,5,6,7,8) with 4 thematic variants (Space, Sport, Military, Cyber Punk), creating 24 different combinations. In doing so, we will be the most unique Mech project in the metaverse, opening up exciting possibilities in gaming, video and physical merchandise.

How big is the team and what are their roles?
Specifically for GRAYCRAFT we have a total of 13 people working on the project including myself.

- 4 artists working on the mech design.
- 4 motion graphic artists working on animations, renders and optimizing the mechs for use in games.
- 2 developers that are working on the generation of NFTs and the smart contract.
- 2 business development and marketing.

Are there any mechanics or utility we should know about?
GRAYCRAFT Mechs will be a free mint for existing GRAYCRAFT NFT holders (All GC 1s can claim 5 Mechs, and all GC 2s can claim 1 Mech). There will be a public mint through an allow list to complete the collection and welcome more Captains into the GC universe.
While we develop the GRAYCRAFT Mechs to be metaverse ready, we are immediately building our own experience center in Sandbox, where Captains can live the GC universe. We are also in discussions with other promising metaverse and gaming companies to bring our assets into their worlds.

Where do you see NFTs in the next 3-5 years?
I see the successful NFT projects in the next 3 -5 years being those that are able to build true metaverse brands that use NFTs and Web 3.0 as a way to redefine the relationship between project founders, the community that they build for and the collaborations they aspire to create.

What would you tell a newbie before beginning to invest in the NFT market? What should they look for?
Think in years, not days. Invest in communities and founders that you can trust, and have a credible track record of delivering value and who are focused on creating brands for the Metaverse.

My favorite NFT projects are BAYC and RTFKT.
