What originally brought you into the NFT space?

I actually started my career off as a visual artist in the music space back in 2014. While doing that I worked with a lot of amazing artists in the space and towards the end of 2020 I noticed a lot of them posting NFTs of their work. I started digging in deeper on what NFTs were and how to get involved in a bigger way.

+
What month and year did you get involved in NFTs?

My first time buying an NFT was in December 2020. I bought a couple packs on TopShot and was hooked. From there I started collecting work on Niftygateway and started building the team to create STURDY.exchange.

How did you come up with the idea for your NFT project?

The idea for Hoodlums came from us looking for the first drop to do on STURDY.exchange. I have been good friends with the artist Somehoodlum for a while now and I knew I wanted to do something with him. We started talking about what this project would look like. At this point PFP and generative projects were starting to take off – BAYC, Cryptopunks, Wicked Craniums, etc. We loved the community aspect of these projects and with the character style that Somehoodlum was already known for we thought it would be a perfect fit.

What makes your NFT project unique?

We are actually the first PFP project built on the FLOW blockchain. That was something we did not plan and didn’t even know until FLOW tweeted it out themselves. Another thing I love about our project is how involved Somehoodlum is in the community and space. This is his first NFT project but he is constantly in discord, holding podcasts, updating his playlists and giving guest lists to holders for concerts around the country. We also have some fun stuff in Vegas planned around a residency that Somehoodlum has at one of the clubs! Full access available for Hoodlum holders.

-
+
How big is the team and what are their roles?

The Hoodlum team is a combination of Somehoodlum’s team, him and his manager Braedon, and our STURDY.exchange team which consists of about 19 of us.

-
+
Are there any mechanics or utility we should know about?

Yes! We have airdrops coming this year to Hoodlum holders and we have weekly concerts and events that we get Hoodlum holders on the guest list for.

-
+
Where do you see NFTs in the next 3-5 years?

I think we are going to start seeing NFTs used for everyday transactions and receipts. The concert you are going to? That ticket will be an NFT. The punch card at the ice cream shop where your 10th ice cream is free? An NFT. That subscription based platform? Will likely be an NFT that you sell once you don’t want to be part of that service anymore. This space living mostly in the visual arts world is just the beginning.

What would you tell a newbie before beginning to invest in the NFT market? What should they look for?

Before purchasing an NFT take a look at what it offers you, the history it has, or the community it comes with. If it has all 3 go for it.

-
+
Is there another NFT project you admire that we should reach out to next?

I’m a huge fan of what they are doing at BAYC. I was lucky enough to buy a couple the day after mint sold out and have held it ever since. They are really paving the space in terms of NFT communities and projects.

Anything else you’d like the people to know about you?!

We are working on some exciting stuff over at STURDY.exchange and we can’t wait to show everyone!
